This morning I got something new. I tried to login into admin panel without any success. No message error, no blank page, nothing, just the login form.
I checked the disk space on my server and it was full. So my session file cannot be created in the var/session folder.
To see the disk space I used this command:
du -sh .
It shows you the current folder space, or if you want more details you should try this command:
du -sh *
It shows you the space of every element from your current folder.
Using that command i realised that my disk was full so I started to clean up the junks from my server. (zip files, the session from the var folders and logs). I saw that my session folder had more then 300000 session files. I tried to used this command:
rm -f *
to delete all of my files from the session folder. My path was /public_html/var/session/. But I got a message something about “Too long …”, I don’t remember it exactly. Then I tried to remove my files using this command:
rm -f session_1*
It deletes all of files, which name starts with the string “session_1”. So I continued to used this command, until I got only 10.000 files and i used the command rm -f * . Now you wonder why I not used the command rm -rf session/. The answer is: I just want to in a more complicated way :).
Also you can check this command:
ls | wc -l
It shows you the numbers of files from a current directory.
So, today I got a new bug by trying to login into Magento admin panel. The reason was the disk space.
